Before booking your Retreat, we ask that anyone considering joining our Retreats meet certain basic medical guidelines to ensure their physical and emotional well-being.
Medical Guidelines
Please Carefully review the following information and consult with your physician before booking your Swissx Island Retreat.
If you have ANY concerns regarding your current or past mental or physical health, it's very important that you consult with your physician, to ensure that partaking of traditional Plant Medicine is safe for you. Many prescription medications and natural supplements should not be mixed with the substances used in Plant Medicine. Also, some medical and psychological conditions are not compatible with use of entheogens.
Medications and Supplements that should NOT to be mixed with Plant Medicine:
- Amphetamines (meth-, dex-, amphetamine)
- Antihistamines, or medications for treatment of colds, sinus problems, hay fever, or allergies (Actifed DM, Benadryl, Benylin, Chlor-Trimeton, Compoz or others)
- Antihypertensives (high blood pressure medicine)
- Antipsychotics
- Appetite suppressants (diet pills)
- CNS (central nervous system) depressants
- Medications for the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, or other breathing problems
- Alcohol consumption
- SSRI’s (Any Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors)
Medical conditions that are NOT suitable for treatment with Plant Medicine:
- Serious heart conditions
- High blood pressure
- Suicidal tendencies
- Bipolar disorder
- Schizophrenia

In the unlikely event of a medical emergency, we are located just minutes away from Mount St. John's Medical Centre in the capital of Antigua, and within driving distance from University of Health Sciences Antigua (UHSA).
Swissx Island has partnered with scientists from University of Health Sciences Antigua to develop our Holistic Wellness Retreats program.
